The Studio Instruments Bass Guitar has a good set of samples and can produce some basic articulations such as slide. Where all the above fall down is in the control of articulations. You can also add variety by applying effects, compressors and amp simulators in particular can be quite effective. You can improve the track by layering or by using different patches on different notes to simulate different articulations. The other places to find bass guitar patches are TTS-1 and Groove Synth both have bread and butter pick, finger and slap bass patches which you may find serviceable, particularly if the bass part is not too exposed.

It would seem the consensus here is you do need to buy something else but lets look at what there is in the standard package first.ĭimension Pro has been mentioned and that would be the first port of call, unfortunately you will find some tuning issues in some of the bass patches. I have emphasized the crux of your question. Also, did you try the TTS-1, or some of the other synths? I don't use them, but others do and like them, and they may have some usable bass sounds. Digital Sound Factory had one on sale a while back for $19.99 that had some basses on it. Another way to get cheap sounds is to buy one of the add-ons for Dimension LE. One of those is a bass module, and I was checking out some of the basses last night and they sound pretty good. There's a group buy going on right now with IK Multimedia where for $50 you can get their Sample Tank soft synth (a special version) along with 3 additional modules of your choosing. I don't mind Session Drummer 2 for creating drum tracks, but what about Bass guitar? Do I have to purchase something in addition to studio 8.5 just to get to be able to create bass guitar?
I have purchased Studio 8.5, and was wondering if there is any real sounding bass guitar vst's in this version or am I missing something.
